Urbem is a Portuguese organization focused on sustainable urban revitalization. It creates FastForests®, small urban forests planted with 100% native species that become self-sustaining in just three years and absorb significantly more carbon than traditional reforestation. Urbem also promotes sustainable construction using mass timber, a renewable, lightweight, and durable material. Through volunteer projects, workshops, and community events, Urbem engages citizens in environmental education and urban sustainability.
Impact Trip in Lisbon offers volunteer experiences that combine responsible tourism with positive social impact. Participants can engage in a variety of programs, including supporting homeless people, marine conservation, food rescue, helping at-risk youth, and assisting migrants. Dona Ajuda is built on three core pillars: social, environmental, and cultural. Located in the former Mercado do Rato in Lisbon, it welcomes donations of clothing, books, shoes, games, and decorative items, which are carefully sorted and sold, with all proceeds going directly to support those in need. Dona Ajuda also promotes circular economy and waste reduction by giving new life to items no longer wanted in one place but needed in another. The space is open to emerging artists for exhibitions, concerts, workshops, and book clubs, fostering access to culture and supporting the healthy development of individuals and communities.
Caparica Trash Collective is a grassroots initiative dedicated to protecting the coastline of Costa da Caparica. The collective regularly organizes beach clean-ups and awareness campaigns to fight marine pollution and inspire more responsible habits. By engaging locals, associations, and visitors, it actively helps preserve this unique ecosystem and fosters a culture of respect for the ocean.
